My wine, my Journey, my Dream.
To me the journey represents a dream, a purpose, a desire, a destination to reach. It has always been that way since I was a kid and imagined myself as a Native American in the prairies. Later, when I met the Navajo tribe, I became familiar with those places and names which came out from my imagination and first readings.
I was really fascinated by Native Americans and especially by the Navajo tribe, who inspired me. Their culture deeply influenced me as well as their vision of our planet as a greater good that we are supposed to love, respect, protect in order to hand it down to the next generations. I have always admired their way of preserving the balance of and with the nature and I realised that their way of being, the today «eco-» way of life, was the real essence of their lifestyle and not just a symbolic banner.
Size: Magnum – 1,5lt
Description
In this wine, my «journey», my «dream» is to be found in the Pinot Noir, a grape variety that I have experienced in its most amazing and perfect expressions. For this reason, I have always feared to desecrate its perfection by experimenting with it. I achieved the most delicate nuances and divine interpretations, but I also failed in my arrogance and ran into incomplete wines. For all these reasons I have always kept my Pinot Noir in a safe place and I have been preparing myself for this journey my entire life, enjoying the idea of making it real and taking care of all details but putting this moment off because I did not want to waste it.
I started in 1987 but I had to wait for eleven long years, until 1998, to find the right direction. However, some happenings forced me to stop my project. Then, I had to wait for further 13 long years before 2011 vintage gave me a divine grape. Day after day I walked through the vines, touched and tasted the grapes, evaluated their tannic structure.
I prepared the grape harvest, I took care for the details of the winemaking in order to manage the power of this vintage, I have monitored the barrel fermentation for 28 long months and then again until March 2014, when, finally, the bottle was created, a magnum that realised my dream.
Today my dream has come true. I grabbed my dream, I caught it. And the label I designed to define this wine shows the Dream Catcher of the Native American tribes. This very strong symbolic object traditionally given to new born children can push bad things away, thanks to its shape and making good things come true. I wanted the bottle in turquoise, a strong colour contrasting with its elegance, just like my Pinot Noir. In fact, turquoise has the energy of the colour yellow and the calm of blue. It helps to relieve tensions, make people more patient, arouse emotions and balance. It is the colour of the sacred stone of the Navajo tribe.
It is my wine, my dream, my journey. What is left is the land, the sun, the grapes, experienced hands that shared the fulfilment of my dream and of course, time.
Time for wine never goes by in vain…
